Meet Blissful Thoughts
“Bright in Bad Weather” is the second full length album released by the rock band Blissful Thoughts. Shortly after releasing their first project “The Human Element”, the band began writing new songs. The LP is a concept album about the effects of technology on relationships.
Fueled by existential questions and adrenaline from the first album, Tyler Suggs (guitar, drums, vocals) and Hannah Garand (bass, vocals) spent the quarantine therapeutically writing and demoing for the band’s next effort.
The lyrical content explores the ways in which technology creates a smaller world, though it is often used to create division – specifically between those who are the closest to us in proximity. The album plays on the lyrical cliché of comparing human emotions to the weather. The band subtly encourages the listener to find joy in life despite the collective dread that the world feels.
Musically, Blissful Thoughts went in a progressive direction – crafting an album that ebbs and flows, expressing the ups and downs of human existence. While not forsaking the heaviness of rock n roll tradition the guitar, bass, and drums are used most often. Extra instrumentation including organ and auxiliary percussion are utilized to create a more inviting soundscape. The band focuses on incorporating Garand as a secondary singer in the band, sharing vocal duties with Suggs.
“Bright in Bad Weather” released on June 24th, 2022.
